Community Leaders — Here to Serve You
The Nadleh Whut'en people are a part of the Athapaskan language group, which covers most of north eastern BC, part of northern Alberta, southern Yukon and south west Northwest Territories. The Nadleh Whut'en speak a dialect of the Dakelh Language which is part of the Athapaskan language family. Our people refer to themselves as Dakelh, which means "people who travel by water."
As part of our efforts to protect and teach our language, we have archived some of our language with First Voices (http://www.firstvoices.com/en/Nadleh-Whuten). If you are interested in learning Dakelh please contact us! Without our language we lose a part of our history and our place on the land.
